What is a Blog Niche and Why Do You Need One?
Did you know that the most successful brands target a specific audience?
What’s a niche?
In business, a niche is a specialized market for a particular product or service.
This is not different from a blog niche!
What is a blog niche?
A blog niche is a specialized segment of a blog market.
If a blogger creates content that teaches people how to cook, the blog niche is Cooking.
If a blog publishes content around yoga, that’s a yoga blog.
In a nutshell, it’s a specific topic that you create your blog posts around.
Your niche revolves around 3 things:
Your specific niche topic. This is the general topic idea you want to go into.
Your specific audience or target customers. To run a successful niche blog, you must find a specific target audience that you want to serve. Your blog posts will only focus on helping this set of people.
Your niche monetization strategy. You must plan out a marketing and sales funnel that will generate income from any blog niche on auto-pilot.
For example, I am a content marketing specialist and I mostly help software businesses with article writing, content & SEO challenges. I want to earn from my blog by offering or creating a freelance service that helps digital businesses with blog content writing and marketing.
1) Niche - SEO and B2B content marketing.
2) Startup businesses (preferably SAAS startups), digital businesses, stores, and B2B agencies.
3) Freelance, consulting services and digital p.

A blog niche also helps you to avoid competition and stand out easily.
How to Brainstorm Profitable Blog Niches for Your New Blog - Step-by-Step

To come up with a perfect blog niche, you must begin by brainstorming random ideas.
How do you begin brainstorming profitable blog niche ideas?
Ask yourself...
What am I passionate about?
Starting, I had ideas like;
Soccer - I always had a deep love for this.
Technology - I naturally developed a love for the internet.
Passive income - I learned some money-making skills that I believe people need to learn.
Spirituality - I love talking to people about living a good and fulfilled life.
Music - I love good music.
Vlogging - I love the idea of documenting your life on video. I love keeping memories.
Think about your accomplishments, past positions, awards, or experiences.
Try not to think about how profitable your ideas are; in the next steps, I’ll show you how to do that.
How to Research the Profitability of Your Blog Niche: Which Ideas Could Develop into Great Blogs?
You see, starting a blog to make money goes beyond just passion.
You could create a wonderful blog around a topic you’re so passionate about and still not make a dollar.
What you must do is filter your blog niche list and take out ideas that might not be too great. Ask yourself;
Can you consistently create blog posts on this topic weekly for a year?
If it’s something you feel you might get tired of, then stay away from that niche. Naturally, you should be able to come up with random content topics for each blog niche you have.
If you’re able to generate profitable blog post ideas for your blog's niche consistently, you’re on track to running a profitable blog.
There are a few tools that can help you validate the profitability of your blog niche ideas that I recommend:
Tool 1) Google Keyword Planner (GKP).
The step step is to check the Google Keyword Planner (GKP) for Keyword Search Volumes.
Head over to Google Keyword Planner and log in with your Gmail account.

Go to 'Discover new keywords' and type in your niche keywords and click on Get results.

Niches with thousands of searches mean lots of people search those terms.
Pay attention to the competition too as you do not want to get into a crowded blog niche.
Tool 2) Quora.
Next, I use Quora to get real questions my target audience is asking online.
Quora is a powerful tool and we can get useful comments that can help you start a profitable blog. I always use it to find lucrative blog post ideas to write about.
You can get questions on topics ranging from Yoga, Marketing, Programming, Cooking, Poems, Photography, Business, Soccer, History Investing, and dozens more!
Tool 3) Related blogs
The next thing I do is check other related blogs and possible competitions.
You should research similar blogs and websites to see what they are doing, and what is working and what is not.
I had little to no chance of thriving in the technology blog niche. There are lots of well-established tech influencers, brands, blogs, and companies that were already huge at the time.
Get a list of your competitors and pay close attention to what they do and how they do it.
For example;
What type of blog posts do they publish?
What products or services do they pay attention to?
Do they post a video or write blog content?
Do people engage with them?
These will help you better understand how your blog niche is performing and help you craft a unique brand voice.

How do I generate blog post ideas?
A powerful blogging strategy I leverage is the ability to use community forums (like Quora, Facebook Groups, etc) to source content ideas to write about. It is also a great way to find out if people will want to pay attention to your new blog or not.
Once you’ve come up with a blog niche for yourself, the next step is to come up with a list of blog post ideas that you can write about (or outsource).
Go on platforms like Facebook, Quora, and Twitter and find out what your target customers are searching for online. Let’s use Quora as an example;
Let’s say you’re in the finance niche or finance market, here’s how to come up with lucrative content ideas using Quora.
Head over to Quora.com and run searches relating to the finance space (use your niche). Some keywords we could try out are;
How to save money
Tools to save money
Budgeting
Invest money
Investment tools
Investment platforms
Student loans
Home buying and more.

All of these are lucrative blog post ideas you can write on.
